Maqui Berry, fruit of the native South American plant (Aristotelia chilensis) or locally known as “maqui”. Small dark purple or black fruits are harvested by hand from wild trees and shrubs (not plantations) in southern Chile, where they are immediately transported to a cold storage facility and frozen. The berries are freeze-dried to remove the water content, ground and sieved to separate coarse seeds from the pulp and skin (which contain antioxidants). The organic powder is encapsulated in size “1” gelatin capsules with no other fillers or ingredients. It is recognized as a powerful source of anthocyanins and other antioxidants.
